The Gwandalan & Summerland Point Community Garden is set in the middle of a Landcare site in beautiful parkland. Entrance to the garden is via a short walk (about 100 metre walk) from the road through natural bushland. It will be well signposted during the edible garden trail.
The garden is a very tranquil place to be and attracts abundant and diverse birdlife. The Gwandalan & Summerland Point Community Garden is an organic garden, and our motto is: Recycle, remake, reuse. We have native bees, a frog pond and plenty of plantings for the bees. Our garden is also surrounded with native plants on two sides for the bees.
The garden is a great place to relax. You don’t have to be a gardener to join us, we are always happy to teach our members to garden. There are great rewards to know you have grown what you are eating, and it is very important to us to teach people how to feed themselves organically. There will be someone on hand on the Saturday to talk to you about the garden and answer all of your questions.
Since the last Central Coast Edible Garden Trail in 2023, our very own Errol Davis was awarded ‘Community Gardener of the Year 2023’ by Community Gardens Australia. The Community Gardener of the Year is awarded to a quiet achiever who is always there to support others and this describes Errol well. He works in the garden most days and, as well as looking after the mulching of garden waste and taking responsibility for the community garden’s watering system, he has sourced second-hand pavers to lay multiple paths for easy access. He loves to spend time talking to young visitors in the garden and encouraging their passion for gardening.
