Story

Ours is a new garden, 18 months in the making. We have planted a diverse range of plants from Australian natives to edibles and companion plants. The front yard, which faces west, consists of Australian native plants, many of them endemic to the Central Coast, to attract beneficial insects, birds, frogs and lizards.

Walking down the side of the house, plant choices transition from natives to small fruit trees, leading to our backyard of raised garden beds, where we grow a variety of vegetables, herbs and flowering plants. We are making the most of the space by growing up and along fences and underplanting trees and shrubs and growing herbs and groundcovers under the clothesline.

We have limited hard surface area by mulching around plants and on pathways.

We have been so fortunate to have a good permaculture design. This has meant that we have achieved far more in a short time than we could have imagined and are looking forward to seeing it continue to develop and grow.

Safety

Our block is level and has easy access from the street. We recommend closed in footwear, due to having arborists mulch on pathways.
