Swamp Central Coast (Sustainable Wetlands Agricultural Makers Project) is a not-for-profit Community focused organisation, co-founded by a team of seven likeminded humans with a passion for inspiring individuals to participate in the regeneration of community and reconnecting people to the importance of accessing locally grown and raised food.
It is a story of how a grassroots revolution – a true underground insurgency, can help turn climate change around and build healthy people and healthy communities, pivoting significantly on our relationship with growing and consuming food.
Our grass root programs, workshops and education offer individuals, community and local organisations the connections and learnings to help guide and navigate through the overwhelm of life with best practices to live sustainably and resiliently in the world today.
We have just this year had the opportunity of running a second site up at Somersby, our market garden partnered with Arc Ento Technologies (an insect farm that breeds black soldier fly) reducing our food waste and solving our growing plastic problem. We are aligned in creating a sustainable education hub for schools, families and individuals to come learn, and be inspired by, seeing first hand a system that works collaboratively to close the loop. Where food is grown, waste is recycled and then reused to grow food and feed animals, whilst at the same time learning about our native reptiles and the importance of indigenous culture.
We are establishing a market garden to grow food for cafés, markets and boxes for sale to homes. Keeping food local with low food miles, and supporting healthy regenerative soils and community. We also regularly run workshops and events teaching and inspiring participants to gain further skills in growing food, living sustainably and learning foundational skills.
