Story

Set on a 500sqm suburban corner block where approx 100sqm is dedicated to gardens, Blue Swimmer Cottage is truly full of surprises.

We are proof that having an incredibly productive organic edible garden does not have to come at the expense of beauty or earth care. Here at Blue Swimmer Cottage we have a high yielding space with gardens on all 4 sides of our cottage plus two planted out verge areas… 360 degrees of permaculture bliss. Respecting the impact our stewardship of this patch has, we tend it with thoughtful consideration & gentleness, having earth care, people care & fair share at the core of what we do with systems in place to support this.

Like all gardens, ours is ever changing & we continue to learn and grow with it.  The sharing of knowledge is a big part of this. We are looking forward to the exchange of ideas participation in the edible garden trail brings. Stop by to chat about things as diverse as habitat creation to propagation to working with nature so nature can do much of the work for you! You’ll see plants that range from collard greens to valerian to rollinia to daphne to tea to apple berries to everyday salad greens… so & so forth.

We are very excited to open & share our permie paradise so please come say hi!

Safety

The house is surrounded by gardens on all 4 sides with the addition of verge gardens on both boundaries. Internal pathways consist of concrete, pebbles and grass with a potential single step or two. The verge is grassed with no pathways. Wheelchair, walker and pram access may be difficult. We ask children be supervised at all times as we have a pond and plants with thorns. Despite the varroa mite incursion our garden still has many busy bees for those with severe bee allergies.
