Stepping up into Candy’s Garden you are immediately impressed by the number of different species included throughout the garden and the integration of house and garden. In addition to feeding herself and her family, the organic produce from Candy’s Garden is included in meals made at NEVILLE, the ecovillage Coffee Cart.
This is Candy’s third year of being involved in the Edible Garden Trail. Candy loves to propagate and grow more productive plants from her own stock. Her Strawberry patch is huge! Candy is an expert at growing a large range of berries and medicinal plants as well as perennial and annual vegetables. Meandering mulched pathways entice you to wander through this four-year-old garden which is always developing further. Her paths entice the visitor to wander through and observe not only plants but the non-human visitors to her garden but also birds, lizards and insects.
Candy’s productive garden and home are perfect example of the principles of Energy Cycling, Diversity and a Small Scale Intensive System.
