Story

The garden has been established for just over 3 years and is still under development. Lorraine purchased the property from a couple who initially planted for Wildlife with some fruit trees. Since then, Lorraine has constructed a number of new gardens for edibles using large logs from on site at Narara Ecovillage. She integrates vegetables and herbs with fruit trees and has retained and increased wildlife habitat for birds, insects, frogs and lizards. Different levels have been created using various types of beds and heights in plants.

Lorraine’s garden is a good example of the Permaculture Principles of Edge Effects and Diversity.
