The Giving Farm

Here at The Giving Farm, we strive to make sure we are connected to our earth. Managing our land, not as farmers but as caretakers of the farm and the earth beneath it. We do not want to be separate from nature but to work with nature and the earth in harmony. Making sure that we are giving back to the earth what has been stripped away by conventional farming, making sure everything is in balance. We are a certified organic farm and aim to have a closed farm. This is where everything we use comes directly from the farm, this includes making composts, growing mulch, using our worm farm and animals to increase biology and health in our soils.

Story

Hi,

Here at The Giving Farm, we strive to make sure we are connected to our earth. Managing our land, not as farmers but as caretakers of the farm and the earth beneath it. We do not want to be separate from nature but to work with nature and the earth in harmony. Making sure that we are giving back to the earth what has been stripped away by conventional farming, making sure everything is in balance.

We believe that soil health is a direct relation to plant health and therefore human health. We believe the lack of micro & macro nutrients are big contributors to the health of humans, both mentally(think zinc & magnesium) and physically. We don’t want to just guess what nutrients are in our soil and produce we grow, we want to test and get accurate data on exactly what the plants are up-taking. It doesn’t matter what our soils are like, if the plants aren’t up-taking the nutrients, then they won’t be nutrient dense. This is why we do soils & leaf tissue tests. We then get an accurate idea of exactly what is going on in our plants. We can then select cover crops to make amendments to the soil or if the crop isn’t up-taking a nutrient then we can just give the crop what it is missing. No extra nutrients and nothing lacking either.

We are a certified organic farm and aim to have a closed farm. This is where everything we use comes directly from the farm, this includes making composts, growing mulch, using our worm farm and animals to increase biology and health in our soils.

At the moment we are establishing a new food forest, we have an established blueberry patch, veggie and flower gardens on the farm.

We hope to see you on the farm soon.

Missy

Safety

This is a working farm. The ground is likely uneven, damp and undoubtedly earthy. There are plants that are pollinating, insects which might sting and animals that might nip. Please watch your step, stay on the path, keep your eye on your children and be aware of the natural world. By entering the farm you understand the risks and take full responsibility for yourself and/or your children. You understand that you are entering at your own risk and assume all liabilities. All visitors to the farm are required to step through a disinfectant shoe bath. This is required as part of our organic certification and at the moment with the threat of Foot and Mouth disease on Australia’s door step, it is extra important. To understand the seriousness of FMD, if it is detected in any animal they will be euthanized. Under the recommendation of our vets and the DPI,  if you have been to Indonesian countries, including Bali, we, unfortunately cannot have you on the farm for 14 days.  Thank you for your understanding in this very serious matter. If you have any questions please always reach out to us.

Tour Times

We will be offering 2 tour times on Sunday. 1pm and 3pm. Please arrive on time for these tours so we can take you through the farm together. Thanks, Missy. Pick your own Blueberries and mixed flowers available.
