The Central Coast Edible Garden Trail is a weekend of inspiration, connection and so much fun!
With around 30 gardens opening on 3 + 4 May 2025, there is a huge range of ideas, systems and designs to explore. Ticket holders are able to select and visit the gardens that most appeal to their situation and growing conditions, and be inspired to grow healthy, chemical-free food that is good for you and good for the planet. Hosts in previous years reported that visitors arrived stacked with questions and curiosity, and that wisdom and knowledge was shared in both directions.
Our theme for 2025 is Permaculture and we’ll be celebrating International Permaculture Day during the Trail on 4 May 2025.
Permaculture is a design approach that creates sustainable environments by working with nature and ecology.
We all know that conventional farming methods are degrading our soils and producing low quality food the world over. Permaculture is an antidote to this: a way to not only regenerate our soils and create balanced healthy ecosystems, but also to grow incredible nutrient dense food in our own communities.
On the Trail, each garden host will be showcasing the permaculture systems they have in place. Visitors can expect to learn about:
- growing food naturally, without the use of chemicals
- what foods we can grow here in our warm temperate climate
- how to deal with pests and disease without the use of pesticides and herbicides
- how to include small animals successfully in backyard systems
- how to take advantage of microclimates in your space
- reducing food waste and converting it into a precious resource
Tickets are on sale from February 26. Early bird discounts apply until March 26, and school age children are FREE.
