Story

Follow the walking trail around the ecovillage to visit the 8 stops including six home gardens, the community gardens in the Triplespan and the Scribbly Gum Food Forest. Showcasing a diversity of garden styles, all of the gardens are 5 years old or less but constantly evolving.

Gardens have everything from fully potted productive patches, raised garden beds, food forests, a market garden, guild plantings, new and established fruit and nut trees, chooks, all forms of composting and soil improvement methods. There’ll be garden hosts at stops along the way.

  • Candy’s Garden – Earthship with built-in greenhouse and productive gardens nestled in, access to garden and greenhouse areas only.
  • John’s Garden Productive front yard garden constructed by a seasoned gardener who grows wherever he goes
  • Geoff’s Garden – Makes the most of the north aspect. Terraced garden. Good inspiration for re-using re-purposed materials
  • Tony and Teresa’s Garden – Ingenious crop protection system, espalier fruit trees, herbs and vegetables, the terraced beds
  • Lorraine’s Garden – mix of wildlife habitat and edible plantings, including a dry herb bed, in-garden worm farm, vegetables and fruit trees
  • Triplespan Community Garden – Traditional market garden layout inside the Triplespan structure, provides veggies for the village café and will be selling produce on the day.
  • Scribbly Gum Food Forest – A shared space within the Narara Ecovillage created and cared for collectively and features a large variety of fruit and nut trees with swales on contour and habitat for wildlife.

Our waste free coffee cart will be open, selling yummy drinks and healthy food (bring your reusable coffee cup or borrow a mug). There will be an opportunity to purchase plants or produce and an info stall to find out more about the Narara Ecovillage. Village kids are also planning to host a refreshment stand along the way.

Open Saturday only. Please park on roadside and walk in main gates where there will be people and signage on the day. Narara Ecovillage is partially accessible.
